Summer time is definitely the best time for junkin and lately I have been finding some great treasures! My poor garage is getting quite stuffed, but I love it! Last weekend my parents went to a sale and found this awesome dresser for me and brought it right over so I could start on it. This charcoal gray dresser almost didn’t leave my house once I was finished, I loved it so much. Here’s what she looked like before…
As you can see it is in awesome condition just needs a little bit of love.
When my mom was looking at the drawers she found a sweet treasure. A note written on the drawer from a grandpa to his granddaughter. This dresser was a gift to her in 1934. It’s so fun to find such history in these items we find.
The top of this dresser had some large colored marks on it so I decided to sand it down to bare wood and restain it. I used a mixture of Minwax Dark Walnut and Minwax Classic Gray. It’s one of my favorite mixes, perfect blend of brown and gray.
For the body of the dresser I used two coats of General Finishes Milk Paint in Driftwood. For the protective coat I used General Finishes High Performance Topcoat in Flat. If you haven’t noticed General Finishes is kinda my fav.
One day later she looks like this…
What do you think of this charcoal gray dresser? My favorite part is the precious note in the drawer. Let me know what you think in the comments below or find me on Instagram. Thanks for stopping by!
