You know those projects that just don’t seem to work out the way you want them to? This white french provincial dresser was one of those projects for me. I kept walking past it in the garage for a couple weeks at a loss of what to do to it. Finally I just decided to go for it.
Here’s what it looked like before
I put so many different stains and glazes on the top of this thing I can’t even tell you how to create the same look. It just wasn’t working so i just kept adding things to get the color I wanted. At one point I just stopped working on it and went inside because I was frustrated! Hey, it happens to all of us. At least I hope it does haha. So after I finally was ok with the color on the top I painted the rest of it in General Finishes Antique White and lightly distressed the edges. I used General Finishes High Performance Topcoat to seal it.
After much frustration this beautiful dresser emerged and I couldn’t love it more.
The hardware is from Home Depot.
Well, what do you think of this french provincial dresser? Even though it gave me a run for my money I am so happy with how it turned out. Projects don’t always go as planned and that’s ok! You have to give yourself a little grace. Things don’t always work out perfectly the first time. Let me know what you think!
